Blue Cohosh is a perennial plant native to eastern North America, traditionally used by Indigenous peoples for its medicinal and magical properties. Its name comes from the Algonquin word “cohosh”, meaning “rough,” referencing its rhizomes. Historically, it was used as a uterotonic to assist with pregnancy and childbirth, and its anti-inflammatory properties also supported arthritis and other pain-related conditions.

Magically, Blue Cohosh is similar to Black Cohosh and is commonly used for protection, courage, and cleansing.
