Centaurea cyanus, commonly known as cornflower or bachelor's button, is an annual flowering plant in the family Asteraceae native to Europe. The plant gets its nickname from its association with cornfields, where it grew and was deemed a weed. 
Medicinally, cornflower can be used as an eye wash or compress to treat infection or inflammation. It has also been used to regulate the nervous system through calming.  

In most magical traditions, cornflower is used to aid in psychic development - this is done through placing dried or fresh flowers on your altar, carrying them on your person in a sachet, and/or brewing and consuming them as tea. To attract a lover, carry in an amulet and place under the bed. 

Cornflower is also used to bring peace to a home. This is done by strategically placing the dried herb, alone or with herbs of a similar purpose, in the corners of the home, kitchen, and any room in which fights occurred. Similarly, hang a bouquet above the front door to ensure your safe return and keep your home safe while you are away. 

Can be used in facial steams and to make infusions for the skin and hair.
Makes a colourful addition to tea blends. The petals can also be added to baked goods, soups and salads. In the summer, add petals to the water in your ice cube trays. Adds decorative splash to your patio drinks.
